Principal's Report

With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak making headlines all over the world, my priority has been our college community’s health and safety.  I apologise for the frequency of COMPASS newsfeeds this week, but I hope that by keeping everyone updated we can assist in correcting any misinformation and alleviate some of the anxiety we are all experiencing to differing degrees.

As the World Health Organisation has declared COVID-19 a pandemic, the Department of Education continues to work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to plan for and respond to the impact on schools in Victoria.

Earlier this week I forwarded you the expert advice from DHHS, detailing the current thinking regarding school closures.  Please be assured that if we have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our school, our response will be swift.  We will liaise with Victoria’s Chief Health Officer and immediately inform families and staff, and communicate clear steps for containment according to expert health advice.

It is important that we continue to provide learning opportunities for our students in the event of a sudden school closure. For this reason I have asked students to ensure that they take their devices home every night and download a copy of their textbooks.

COMPASS will be our primary mode of communication so please ensure that you have access and that we have your most up-to-date mobile number and email address on file.

Thank you once again for your continued support.
