2019 VCAL Achievement Awards

On Monday, 29 April, I had the pleasure of attending the VCAL Achievement Awards ceremony at the Deakin Edge, Fed Square. The VCAL Achievement Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of young people who participate in and complete a VCAL qualification. The awards also recognise the exceptional efforts of committed teachers and community partners who have played significant roles within the VCAL program.

Doncaster Secondary College was awarded the VCAL Student Achievement Award – Intermediate Team Achievement. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our students, Hamid A. 12S, Stephanie W. 12S and Georgia H. 12S. Their project was successful in raising awareness and funds for the NSW farmers who have been affected by severe drought. Through completing this project they further developed their numeracy, literacy and work-related skills which will essential to their future careers. I would also like to acknowledge the work of our VCAL teachers and staff in supporting the students with their project. In doing so I must make special mention of the work of Donna Mckinlay for her ongoing support of the students, as well as the coordination of students and their families around their attendance at the awards ceremony.
