Home Habits: Family Tech Agreement

It takes a whole family to be safe online. Sometimes it can be challenging managing how we use devices in our homes. The eSafety Commissioner suggests that a clear, strong family technology agreement that is created and discussed together as a family, can both help our children and ourselves to build good habits and set clear boundaries for when and how we use devices at home.

At Rangeview PS we create a classroom technology agreement at the beginning of the year to assist students to use technologies appropriately while at they are at school.

Recommended for younger learners, an agreement can be created at any age and revised to meet the needs of your children and family. Involve your children in the discussion of creating your agreement, so they understand the expectations and reasons behind them. As they get older encourage them to make suggestions and have greater input in the creation of the agreement. They will feel a sense of ownership over what you create together as a family.
