Level 1

Welcome

It’s wonderful to be back at school! Level 1 students were absolute superstars in Remote & Flexible Learning 5.0, and should be so proud of their efforts. Among other things, we revisited subtraction in Maths, practised editing work in Writing, and investigated science in the kitchen for Inquiry, including reporting to other students in our small-group meetings online. Students also enjoyed a virtual disco with DJ Sam from home.

It was exciting to celebrate our 100 Days at School with a special WebEx meeting, and lots of 100-themed activities. The celebrating will be continuing in the coming week, with a special Level 1 fish ‘n’ chips lunch.

We have been enjoying watching and discussing the Olympic Games. Our online Specialist-run Olympic-themed day was well-received during Remote Learning. And last Friday, we were fortunate to be back at school for a whole-school Olympics. Each class was allocated a country – in Level 1 these were Jamaica, South Africa, USA, Italy and France – and students could dress in their flag colours or as a sportsperson. Following a whole-school assembly (run remotely and watched in our classrooms), students rotated through activities. Level 1 students also competed in a beanbag-throwing activity and the winners from each class took part in a whole-level Grand Final. Congratulations to all the students for their good team spirit, and to the gold, silver and bronze medal winners! (Forza Italia!)

We are sure that everyone had a good sleep Friday night!

Best wishes,
