Tokyo Olympics in 2021 at Rangeview
Flag bearers with the Japan, Australia and the Olympic flags followed the torch into the Rangeview hall to mark the opening of the 2021 Olympic Games. The ceremony was beamed into the classrooms and each class had 2 representatives to speak about their chosen country. The classes cheered loudly for each country and their voices rang out throughout the day as they competed in a range of fun activities. House leaders led the grade 5/6 classes for their sports day.
We also launched the 4 new house flags - students voted on the preferred designs and many thanks to Chris Roche for the manufacture and design work. Terra and Arbor have a new look logo.
Reconnecting with school is critical after lockdowns and these fun opportunities for our students, families and staff are vital.
Return from Remote learning
A huge welcome back to our students. Kate, Marika and I with our teachers and support staff were greeting our learners back onto site. Many smiles from families with perhaps a sense of Groundhog Day? Yes we did it again and we are very glad to be back. Thank you families for your amazing support of your children.
100 Days Celebration for Foundation Students
How the days pass in a blur of the regular routine of getting up and dressed in the school uniform, packing lunches, remembering the notices and home reading and walking into school to start the day. Our families and students have weathered the storm of remote learning at home and how that routine looks very different from the learning environment at school.
Our foundation students have celebrated 100 days of learning (at home and at school). Well done to our youngest students. Your teachers are very proud of your achievements and your growth.
Facilities Updates
Upgraded Amenities https://www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/Pages/map.aspx
We have seen the initial plans for the upgrade of the senior student toilets. There has been an estimate of the costs and the modifications to the design are being discussed. The work is unlikely to begin before the end of this term but we will keep families and students informed.
Inclusive Schools Grant
The team allocated from VSBA (Victorian Schools Building Authority) to deliver the Inclusive Schools Grant project will be meeting with us to start the refinement of our initial plan. The enhanced play space project is for the oval banks near the Verdale Close entrance.
Planning for the Future- Community Feedback for the Master Plan Concept
We are launching the community feedback for the master plan concept. It is a collection of ideas for a potential half school rebuild. We are seeking your opinion so please take the time and click on the link. This will be sent to families and our community on Friday 6 August.
Junior School Council
Junior School Council representatives this week will decide on the fundraising from the free dress day on Tuesday 10 August.
Grade 5/6 Production rehearsals have started. The talent is evident and anticipated work to bring this together has begun. We look forward to seeing the progress and the eagerly awaited live performances in September.
