VET Music Industry Night, Winter Music Soiree and Emerging Performers Showcase

The recent lockdowns meant that we have needed to cancel or reschedule a number of events in Term 2.

VET Music Industry Night will now take place at Brunswick Ballroom on Monday 6 September. All bookings will automatically be transferred across to the new date. Please let me know if you are unable to make this night and we will issue a refund.

It will not be possible to reschedule the Winter Music Soiree due to clashes and assessment schedules for many of our senior students who would be part of this event. A number of the performances planned for this concert will now be held over to the Twilight Music Night on Tuesday 26 October.

The Emerging Performers Showcase will now be held on Thursday 5 August from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Bookings will re-open at the start of Term 3.

College Musical

After several weeks off, on Wednesday we were able to bring together the cast and band for The Addams Family for a socially distanced, COVID-safe sing through the entire show. The cast have not lost any of their energy or excitement for this funny and engaging show. Under the direction of Ms Beth Thomson and musical Director, Ms Robyn Cole, the cast of almost 40 are well on their way to entertaining everyone on their opening night. Tickets are on sale now https://www.trybooking.com/BQFMA for the five performances.

  • Friday 23 July at 7.30pm
  • Saturday 24 July at 7.30pm
  • Thursday 29 July at 4.00pm
  • Friday 30 July at 7.30pm
  • Saturday 31 July at 2.00pm

Lip Sync Battle

As we did last year during lockdown, we are inviting students and their families to put their creative minds together to create a Tik Tok style, Lip Sync performance. The upcoming school holidays would provide the perfect time for students to plan an entertaining song and dance with their family and friends.

Guidelines are as follows:

  • Final video must be no shorter than 30 seconds and no longer than 60 seconds
  • A minimum of four people must appear in the clip
  • There must be at least one parent/adult as part of the on-screen talent
  • Please film in landscape orientation
  • Final videos will be uploaded via email or can be delivered on USB
  • No inappropriate language or actions
  • Bonus points for choreographed movement, costumes and locations

Prizes will again be on offer and announced next term. Entries will be due by Friday 20 August and performances will be streamed in a presentation hosted by this year’s Performing Arts Captains on Thursday 26 August. Winning entries will be judged by a panel of Performing Arts and other staff.

Also in Term 3

Keep your eyes peeled for further VET Music class performances, VCE Theatre Studies Monologue Night and the eagerly awaited, Cumberland Concert, Don’t Stop Us Now

Auditions will also be taking place for this year’s College Play, directed by Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong. Students from Years 7 to 11 are welcome to audition with after school rehearsals taking place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from Monday 2 August. Further information will be made available at a lunchtime information session on Friday 23 July.
