Time for a Tilt at the

Top Job!

Leigh Gray (SVC 1980-84)

Leigh Gray (SVC 1980-84) has thrown his hat into the ring to replace outgoing Brighton Mayor, Tony Foster.  Leigh has been a Brighton Councillor since 2005.

Leigh is currently working as a Licenced Customs Broker with Link Logistics International Pty Ltd.  He is married to Prue and they have four children – Ainsleigh (SVC 2012-2014), Michaela, Emmeline and Llewellyn  (SVC Year 7).  Ainsleigh is currently at UTAS studying Engineering (Mechanical) and Science (Majoring in Physics), Emmeline is going into third year Law at UTAS, while Michaela is at home with Leigh and Prue’s first grandchild.

Leigh was involved in most sports whilst at the College but excelled in Aussie Rules and Rowing (member of the 1st VIII in 1984).

He had a long football career post school:

New Norfolk Football  - 1984-1992

Swansea Football Club - 1993-4, 1996-2000 (Premiership 1999)

Dodges Ferry Football Club - 1995

Brighton football Club  2001-2013 - (Including Committee appointments

He also rowed with the Sandy Bay Club.

Interestingly the retiring Mayor Tony Foster was on the Brighton Council for 34 years and served as Mayor for 28.  His two sons attended St Virgil’s.  Stephen (SVC 1990-94) and James (SVC 1994 -97)

We wish Leigh all the best with his quest.
