Year 9/10 Outdoor Ed Camp

8th Tuesday

Getting up and going to school before 7 is never easy. Upon getting there, we put our stuff in the trailer and cold food in the esky then got on the bus and began the long trip to The Grampians. When we arrived at the break spot almost everyone went to get food, then got back on the bus. When arriving at Plantation Camp Site, we had 30 minutes to get our tents up and stuff in our tents, then we left for our afternoon hike to The Pinnacles. It wasn't too long of a dive but when we got there and started walking, it was shorter than expected. The view was great though and everyone managed to get up there. Cooking dinner could have been better if we had the sunlight for longer, cooking in the dark is both hard and annoying.

19th Wednesday

We all woke up at around 7:00 and had to get changed and have breakfast, we then set off to go rock climbing at Mount Arapiles. We climbed for 4 hours. Going up the rock faces was easy, coming down though was scary! We all had to get into groups of 3, two would be bilayers and one would be the climber. When we had about 30 minutes left we were all starting to slow down and not climbing as much but that's also when the lollies came out and got everyone back up. After the rock climbing we went on a hike up Hollow mountain. We got to a certain height where there was no path and we had to climb over rocks to get to the top. We made it up there pretty quickly and the view was great and unique. On the way down though it was harder than getting up there. After getting back down the mountain, we got on the bus and started to go back to camp. When we got back to the camp site, we saw a wallaby eating my group's burger buns that it got out of the esky. We had spare bread so it was fine, we all made use of the light and started to make dinner so we didn’t have to make it in the dark. By the end of the day everyone we cooked marshmallows by the campfire.

20th Thursday

When we woke up on Thursday we got up and started to pack up our tents and everything inside them. This was all to be done by 8am and we all just made the cut off time. Then we got on the bus for one last trip to McKenzie Falls to take pictures and walk up and down too many stairs. After that we all got one the bus for the last time and went home. A fantastic camp had by all
