Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone to what I am sure will be a great term of learning, knowledge sharing and curiosity!  It was great to catch a small breather over the holidays with my family, and I pray that it was the same for yours.  Our family got to play in the snow for the first time these holidays so that was a special experience for us all.

What a fabulous Week 1 we had!  With new children commencing and others transitioning into new learning communities it has been a busy time of scaffolding support where needed, but more importantly celebrating the embrace many of our current children demonstrated towards our new friends.  Transition always takes time as confidence builds, so we continue to pray for all our children as Term 3 launches.

We welcome Mrs Hannah to our team who has begun building relationships with specifically the children who are in the Afternoon Program.  We also welcome Mrs Mack who is our new Music & Movement teacher.

It is with sadness that I inform you that Mr Joe will be saying farewell to our community in Week 4 as he leaves to take on a leadership position at an OSHC in the Adelaide Hills. Mr Joe has built some strong connections with many of our children and I know that our staff team will dearly miss his calm and friendly presence amongst us.  God bless you Mr Joe and your family as you move into this opportunity.

Our community continue to learn new things each day, and that applies to our staff team also.  Over the holidays Mrs Amelia and myself attend the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange where we explore 'curiosity' as a driver for inquiry.  It was wonderful to be immersed in the culture and language of the Reggio Children community and to share in some shared understandings and new thinking.

The entire staff team participated in the Connected Schools Conference where we explored the skills of collaborative learning, self awareness and attended various break out sessions around bush kindy, managing conflict, compassionate systems and the Lutheran lens for learners.  It was a great time of bonding as a team and having time for conversations that sit outside of our active lives with the children throughout the week.

The children this week have launched straight into many new lines of inquiry through play, so I am very excited to see what these experiences offer the children and the new learning that will occur.
