Senior School News

From our student leaders

Last term, the leadership team organized quite a few fundraising events for various causes. Throughout the month of June, we had 39 participants in the annual Push-Up Challenge. The program raises awareness towards men’s mental health by educating the community with statistics and offering support lines to anyone needs it. As part of the challenge, participants could either individually or as a team, complete 3,144 push-ups, and in total, our Viewbank community completed 61,698 push-ups along with raising $1895!

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we also held our quarterly out-of-uniform fundraiser in Week 8, in which we raised money towards the Big Freeze, supporting Motor Neuron Disease. It was a lot of fun, as we had 9 participants take part in an Ice-Bucket Challenge, dressing up and showing good spirit. Overall, we raised $975 towards finding a cure against MND!

Unit 2 Physics Australian Synchrotron Excursion

On Friday 14th July, our Year 11 Physics classes visited the Australian Synchrotron to complement their studies in AOS 2: How do particle accelerators work?

Students had a tour of the synchrotron and also completed a lab based session.
