Headspace

We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Youth Reference Group (YRG) at headspace Greensborough and headspace Plenty Valley. 

 

This opportunity is open to young people aged 16 to 25, who have connection to the Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik and/or Whittlesea areas, and are keen to have their voice heard on issues affecting other young people.

 

What are the qualities of a Youth Reference Group member?

  • Passionate about issues relating to youths, and want to make their voice heard
  • Motivated, willing and committed to participate in monthly meetings throughout the year
  • Have availability during business hours to attend and co-facilitated youth-focused events, such as presentations, stalls and other activities
  • Participate in a Facebook group between meetings
  • Have the ability to balance health, mental wellbeing, other responsibilities (such as work and study), alongside the YRG position

What are the benefits of being a YRG member?

  • Have your say about important issues relating to young people in the community
  • Meet other likeminded young people and professionals who are invested in youth mental health and wellbeing
  • Develop skills, such as working in a group on a community project, and taking lead on topics of personal interest
  • Learn more about mental health, alcohol and drugs, and other youth-related topics
  • Shape and participate in community awareness and engagement events
  • Consult on service delivery, improvements on documents and processes
  • Obtain references for future employment opportunities
