Ms Hilary Cheng - Mandarin

Hello (ni hao), everyone! 

My name is Ms. Cheng, and I am excited to be your new Mandarin teacher at Karoo Primary School for 2023! With several years of experience in primary education, I am eager to make this year a fun and enriching learning experience for all of you. One unique aspect of my teaching style is incorporating music into the Mandarin program. So, get ready to see me singing and dancing in the classroom!

Beyond the walls of Karoo, my family holds a special place in my heart. We share a passion for travel, and our adventures together have allowed us to explore various cultures and gain a deeper appreciation for diversity. This love for culture and language has fuelled my enthusiasm for teaching Mandarin, and I am eager to inspire that same curiosity in each of you.

I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you and seeing your progress throughout the year.

Mr Matt Leeson - PE / Sports

I feel extremely privileged to be the Physical Education Teacher of Karoo Primary School. With a strong community and sense of connectedness, I consider the school a ‘home away from home.’ It brings me great pleasure to work alongside a staff who are so committed, enthusiastic and passionate about their profession. I take enormous pride in prioritising the education of health and wellbeing, whilst striving to achieve high levels of engagement in sport for all students. My role also encompasses building the leadership capacity of the senior school students and encouraging them to become the best version of themselves.  

Mr Adam Horne - Media & Technologies

I am a passionate teacher who has been lucky enough to work in this wonderful industry for over 10 years. I put my students at the forefront of everything I do and endeavour to make my classroom a fun, creative, positive and engaging environment to learn. Before my teaching degree I earned a degree in Media Arts and ran my own Media based production company for many years. I have incorporated my loves of photography, animation, filmmaking, art and music into every classroom I have taught in and am so excited that I get to inspire the students at Karoo Primary School to find their voice and love for Media Arts and Digital Technologies in 2023.
