Quick Stix Program

The Quick Stix Program is underway for our Year 3/4 students and they are thoroughly enjoying learning about the sport of lacrosse, as well as developing the three basic lacrosse skills of catching, scooping and throwing. As the students continue to become familiar with the sport, they will move onto a focus of team play and game rules.

Thank you to the Year 3/4 classroom teachers for assisting the qualified coaches with running the program and supervising the students during this time!

Year 1/2 Mini Hoop Time

On Thursday 27th July the Year 1/2 students and classroom teachers attended Nunawading Basketball Stadium for the Mini Hoop Time program. The students participated in a clinic at the beginning of the day that was run by Youth League players from Nunawading Spectres. The clinic focused on the offensive fundamental skills of basketball including dribbling, passing and shooting. During the afternoon session, students were allocated to a team and played shortened games that were both interschool and against another school who attended on the day.

Thank you to the Year 1/2 classroom teachers for stepping in, getting involved and helping the Youth League players with running the clinics. Also, for taking on the role of coaching a team and making the day a successful experience for the students.

Finally, a massive thank you to the parent helpers for volunteering their time to coach teams during the afternoon session. The day simply would not have been possible without your support and the smiles on the students faces were a credit to your involvement in the program.

Year 3/4 Hoop Time

On Thursday 3rd August the students involved in Year 3/4 Hoop Time attended Nunawading Basketball Stadium to play games against 3 other schools. Upon reflecting on the experience, I am extremely proud of the way the students strived to achieve personal excellence in all three levels of the program; all stars, future stars and rookies. It was a true highlight of my day to see the sportsmanship and teamwork that was on display by all teams who participated in the event. I also enjoyed hearing comments from students in the Rookies level about wanting to join a basketball club and become part of a team environment.

Congratulations to the all star boys and all star girls teams who competed in the grand final for their pool. Well done on your outstanding achievement!

Thank you to Miss Beagley, Miss Dobson and Mrs Grimes for supervising the students, coaching a team and for their exceptional organisation of the event. In addition, I would like to extend my thanks to the parent helpers who volunteered their time to coach teams and provide additional supervision of the students.

Year 5/6 Senior District Basketball

On Friday 21st July the students involved in the Year 5/6 Senior District Basketball competition attended Dandenong Basketball Stadium to compete against other schools from the Rowville District. I was extremely impressed with the behaviour from the students and the way they represented our school with enormous pride. Well done for encouraging each other and putting in your best effort throughout the day.

Congratulations to the all star girls team who went undefeated and won the grand final. The girls will now compete in the division finals on Monday 13th October. Good luck!

Thank you to Miss Moyle, Miss Wild and Miss Williams for  supervising the students, coaching a team and for their exceptional organisation of the event. In addition, I would like to extend my thanks to the parent helpers who volunteered their time to coach teams and provide additional supervision of the students.
