Music at MAG

New Digital Grand Piano

We are delighted to have purchased a state-of the-art Kawai digital grand piano to further enhance the music programs and opportunities at MAG.

This stunning digital grand piano will be housed in P3, where our Jazz Ensemble students will have the pleasure of utilising it in their weekly rehearsals. Opportunities for other music students to play and perform on this piano will also be available.

The digital grand piano will significantly enhance the quality of our future performances, enrich the overall ensemble presentation, and highlight the advanced skill sets of our participating students in the Jazz Ensemble.

MAG Snr Drumline

Johnno’s Run and upcoming National Drumline Competition:

Our Snr Drumline, always in high demand, delivered an outstanding performance last Sunday 6 August, in support of the local fundraising event, 'Johnno's Run.'

The Drumline captivated the public audience and runners running past (some even stopped to dance!) for an hour at Hopwood Gardens in Echuca. The event also served as a perfect rehearsal session for the Snr Drumline, fine-tuning their performance for the upcoming National Drumline Competition.

Best wishes to our Senior Drumline as they gear up for the National Drumline Competition in Melbourne this Saturday 12 August. This milestone event will witness our Snr Drumline competing with other drumline ensembles from schools across Australia. We can’t wait to be involved in this exciting event!

Stay tuned for a report on the Senior Drumline's experience in the National Drumline Competition in our next newsletter.

Brass / Woodwind Step Up Program

We are thrilled to announce the revival of the Brass/Woodwind 'Step Up' program at Moama Anglican Grammar! After a brief hiatus since 2020, we are excited to resume this enriching music opportunity.

The Brass / Woodwind Step Up program invites students who were previously part of our Year 6 Brass / Woodwind Music classes, to continue their learning on either trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, or flute in a group setting during weekly Friday lunchtime lessons.

Sessions are led by Mr Kevin Kiely and the Step Up program serves as a fantastic stepping stone for students interested in joining our esteemed Jazz Ensemble in future.

New students to Moama Anglican Grammar who are interested in learning one of these instruments are also invited to join this program. A fee of $10 per session, which is less than one-on-one extra-curricular tuition, will be charged for participation in this group.

Students can enrol to participate in the Step Up program (or choose to learn another instrument as part of our extra-curricular music program) by completing our extra-curricular application form: https://www.moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/2023-Extra-curricular-Music-form.pdf
