The 'Road Smarts' Program

Join us on Monday 14 August 2023 for our 'Road Smarts' Community Meeting

As you know, we are launching the 'Road Smarts' Driver Education Program at Moama Anglican Grammar, scheduled to run in December 2023. This program aims to educate and empower our Year 10 students, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to make safer choices on the road – and we are seeking input from across our community to ensure we design an inclusive and comprehensive program!

Empowering Our Year 10 Students

The 'Road Smarts' program has been carefully designed to empower our Year 10 students with essential road safety skills. It goes beyond simply teaching them how to drive; it focuses on instilling responsible decision-making and a deep understanding of road safety principles. Our goal is to equip our young learners with the knowledge and confidence to make safer choices on the road, ensuring their safety and that of everyone around them.

Comprehensive Learning Experience

The 'Road Smarts' program will offer a comprehensive learning experience that combines education, practical training, and real-life experiences. Through engaging and impactful components, our students will gain valuable insights into road safety. Here are some of the exciting components that we would like for the program:

Mock Accident Experience: Students will witness a realistic simulation of an accident, helping them understand the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of responsible behaviour on the road.

Real-Life Agencies Engagement: Guided visits to local agencies will provide firsthand insights into the impacts of road incidents on emergency services and our community.

Mental Well-being and Resilience: Students will receive training in mental health first aid, fostering their overall well-being and resilience on and off the road.

Safe Road User Education: Engaging sessions on sharing the road safely with various vehicles and emphasizing pedestrian safety will promote responsible road behaviour.

Car Maintenance Basics: Practical sessions on vehicle maintenance will empower students to ensure their vehicles are safe and well-maintained.

Interactive Defensive Driving Workshop: Students will participate in supervised driving experiences and interactive discussions on defensive driving techniques.

Calling for Community Involvement

To make the 'Road Smarts' program a success, we need the support and involvement of our community members. Your unique perspectives, experiences, and ideas are crucial in shaping the program to make it truly special for our students and the broader community.

On the 14th of August 2023 at 10 am, we invite all community members to a special meeting. Let's come together to brainstorm ideas and discuss how we can collectively ensure the success of this vital initiative. By uniting as a community, we can create a 'Road Smarts' program that reflects our shared commitment to safety and positive change.

Your involvement will be the driving force behind the success of the 'Road Smarts' program. Together, we can pave the way for a safer and more responsible generation of drivers.

We look forward to your presence and input at the meeting. Let's make a difference together!

RSVP by 11th August 2023.
