Congratulations!

 Magill School Concert Band

On Thursday the 17th of  August, the Magill Concert Band, under the direction of Nick Vladkoff, competed in the 2023 SA School Band and Orchestral Festival at Westminster School. 44 Magill students from grades 5 and 6 rehearsed three pieces to present in the Junior Concert Band section along with 6 other Adelaide schools. Magill students performed to their absolute best and amazed the audience and adjudicators with an admirable performance, particularly of the set-piece Market In Marrakesh by Tim Fisher. The adjudicators were so impressed they awarded Magill the only Gold Trophy and the Overall Section Winner prize, which is a fantastic reward for a lot of hard work throughout the year. The way the students represented Magill School on the big stage was outstanding. Congratulations!

A huge thank you to our front office team, in particular Rachel Owens who organised a seamless excursion for the band, Peter Matzick for his excellent percussion teaching, Instrumental Music (IM) Leader Anthony Bishop, IM Teacher Peter Young, our Principal John Iannunzio and our wonderful volunteers Noor, Garima and Renee, for their support and guidance on the day.
