From the Director of School Culture and Character Development

Welcome back!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable and relaxing break. Term 3 looks to be another busy term at BMGS. There are many opportunities for your child to get involved in a range of activities. One of our themes for this term is to become more familiar with our own personal values and those of the School so we can live them every day. Posters have been put up around the School and we encourage parents to talk about this at home.

I take this opportunity to remind you all of some key processes used by Senior School Reception.

  • When your child is unwell they should go to reception where they will be cared for until contact can be made with you. If for some reason your child contacts you first, please direct them to reception and we will organise care and contact you. At no stage should a child just be picked up from the roundabout – this will cause great concern as we do know where your child is throughout the day. Please come into Senior School Reception to sign them out. If you know that you will be picking your child up early, then please email absencess@bmgs.nes.edu.au as the receptionist checks this regularly and will note student movements on the system.

  • Please make contact with your child through Senior School Reception. Any messages will be passed on. At this stage mobile phones can be brought to School, but they must remain in lockers throughout the day. Therefore, please do not expect your child to have their phone on them, nor arrange to contact your child via their mobile phone during school hours. If your child is seen with their phone it will be confiscated.

  • A number of senior students may have received their license to drive over the holidays. Please remember that a permission to drive form must be filled in if they intend to drive to school and further permissions are needed if they intend to give other students a lift. No student should be in another student’s car without written permission from their own parents. These forms can be obtained from Senior School Reception.
