Principal's Report

Term 3 is well underway, and the finish line for our Year 12 students is fast approaching. This term will see us beginning to work with a lot of students and families on what opportunities are provided for 2024 and beyond. We look forward to welcoming many of our families to the school for various events, including our 2024 Information Evenings and our Meet & Connect days. Please make sure you are checking our school calendar for opportunities to visit us and hear valuable information about choices for your child’s schooling, as well as the range of career and pathway opportunities.

Year 11- 2024 Information Evening & Course Counselling

Last week we invited our students and families to the College to explore subject offerings, courses, and career discussions for our current Year 10 students. This was a valuable opportunity for students and families to discuss not only 2024 but also their VCE programs for 2024 & 2025 as well as further career aspirations. We hope our families found it valuable to hear about a range of opportunities and discuss subject offerings with our vast array of experienced staff.

On Friday we then held our Course Counselling which allied students and families with a one-on-one discussion with staff around subject choices and pathway development. If you or your child has yet to engage in a Course Counselling meeting then I encourage you to contact the school and we can arrange this with you.

Stage 3 Build

Our building has progressed well in the past couple of weeks and you have probably noticed, when visiting the school, we now have the steel frame being erected for the extension to the Chirnside Building. We are very excited to see the beginnings of the structure go up and hopefully, we will be able to provide a walkthrough via our website very shortly! Our Technology Building is progressing very well - we now have all the inside walls and structure completed. Over the next 2 weeks, we will begin having delivery of the various machinery to be installed and we will have photos of our new technology workshop to share!

Meet & Connect

Meet & Connect Days will be held on Thursday 31st August (3.50 pm - 7.00 pm) and Friday 1st September (9.30 am - 1.30 pm). These are great opportunities for our students and families to gain valuable feedback as we move into the final part of the academic year and ensure that students have the information they need to finish the year strong and get the best results for themselves.

All of these events are outlined in our Compass system and if parents are yet to log in we implore you to please begin logging in and accessing all of the valuable information in Compass such as notices, attendance, permission forms, and staff communications. If you do not know how to log in to Compass please contact the school on 9749 0246 or come to our front office where we can assist you.

Year 12 - One Last Push

This term is the home stretch for our Year 12 students and we are working hard to provide them with the valuable skills and knowledge they will need for their end-of-year exams and their future career pathways beyond Tarneit Senior College. Please support your children and the school with positive conversations and, by providing them with the space and time for good study habits.
