NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM - LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN) 2022

School Readiness Test (SRT) Level 3 and Level 5

On Wednesday 16th March, students in Level 3 and Level 5 took part in the  School Readiness Test. The purpose of this online test was to give teachers and students the opportunity to try the platform that will be used for NAPLAN in May this year, with the move from paper tests to online. No results will be received for this test.

The Omnibus test, was a practice test with elements of Reading, Language Conventions and Mathematics. Students were asked to take the opportunity to practise using the various tools on the platform, such as number lines and rulers, as well as the skills of using a laptop such as drag and drop and drop down boxes. Students used the same laptops that they will use for NAPLAN testing in May and were provided with headphones.

The ICT department was also able to monitor our EDUSTAR system to check for any faults or concerns with so many students testing at once. Overall, it was a very successful day and we were very pleased with the way the system worked and the way in which our students embraced the opportunity to try their skills in preparation for May.

Coordinated Practice Test (CPT) Level 5

On Thursday 24th March, all Level 5 students will take part in a 42 minute online writing test at 11.30am. The purpose of the CPT is to trial the online assessment platform with a large number of users from around Australia at the same time. This will provide the Department of Education and Training the opportunity to identify any issues with the mass usage of the online assessment platform that may need to be addressed before the real NAPLAN Online in May.

Again, there will be no results published from this test and students will be encouraged the practise writing on the laptop device. Level 3 NAPLAN Writing will remain a paper-based test in 2022.

NAPLAN Online Level 3 and Level 5

All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are expected to participate in NAPLAN. NAPLAN tests give you information on how your child is progressing against national standards. This information can be used to identify areas in which your child may benefit from additional assistance. NAPLAN does not replace, but rather complements assessments run by your child's classroom teacher throughout the year.

Adjustments can be provided for students with a disability to enable them to access the tests on an equivalent basis to students without a disability. Some students who have been attending school in Australia for less than a year before the tests may also be eligible for exemption. Your child's teacher will discuss this with you if your child is eligible.

Wherever possible, schools will organise for individual students who are absent at the time of testing to complete missed tests at another time during the test window.

The dates of NAPLAN 2022 are:

Tuesday 10th May - Writing

Wednesday 11th May - Reading

Thursday 12th May - Conventions of Language

Friday 13th May - Numeracy

Monday 16th May - Friday 20th May - Catch-up Tests
