Deutsch für die Zukunft 

(German for the Future) 

 WELCOME BACK, FRAU KENT 

What a wonderful start to the German Program we have had this year! 

At the beginning of the term we welcomed back our German Language Assistant, Sophia Kent, to Rangeview. Frau Kent will work at Rangeview on Wednesdays and Thursdays and at Mullauna Secondary College on Mondays and Tuesdays. She will assist the German teachers and students to enhance the German Program by furthering students’ German language skills, working with students individually, in small groups or with the whole class. We look forward to a fabulous year of learning German at Rangeview! 

Frau Kent has kindly written to the Rangeview School Community in both German and English: 

Guten Tag Rangeview Grundschule! 

Ich bin Sophia Kent und ich habe das Vergnügen 2021 und 2022 die Fremdsprach-Assistentin bei Rangeview zu sein!  

Ich bin in Deutschland, im Staat Rheinland-Pfalz, geboren und aufgewachsen. Da ich zweisprachig, Deutsch/Englisch, erzogen wurde, hatte ich schon immer eine Leidenschaft für Sprache und Kommunikation. Ich musste auch acht Jahre lang Französisch in der Schule lernen! Ich bin qualifizierte Logopädin und habe ursprünglich viel mit Kindern in Kindergärten und Grundschulen gearbeitet. 

Seit Oktober 2018 lebe ich in Melbourne und ich freue mich sehr, die Kinder im Fach Deutsch für ein weiteres Jahr unterstützen zu können. Zusammen mit den beiden Deutschlehrerinnen Frau Ulrike Lindner und Frau Megan Taylor wird der Deutsch-Unterricht wahrhaftig wunderbar! 

 Good day Rangeview Primary School! 

I’m Sophia Kent and I have the pleasure of being the German Language Assistant at Rangeview for 2021 and 2022!  

I was born and raised in Germany, in the state of Rhine-Palatinate. Because I was brought-up bilingual, German/English, I have always had a passion for language and communication. I also had to learn French for eight years at school! I am a qualified speech pathologist and in the past, I have worked a lot with children in kindergartens and primary schools. 

Since October 2018 I have been living in Melbourne und I am very excited to be supporting the children with German for another year. Together with the two German Teachers Miss Ulrike Lindner and Miss Megan Taylor, German class will be truly “wunderbar”!

INTRODUCING OUR 2022 GERMAN CAPTAIN, TILLY 

We are also delighted to have the assistance of our 2022 German Captain, Matilda (Tilly). 

Tilly has demonstrated a wonderful passion and enthusiasm towards her German language learning throughout her primary years at Rangeview. She has participated in the German Poetry Competition in Year 5 with excellent results. 

Tilly has also written a fabulous introduction about herself in German and English. Enjoy: 

Hallo! Ich heiße Matilda, aber Ihr könnt mich auch Tilly nennen! Als Euer deutscher Kapitän dieses Jahr, freue ich mich schon, viele verschiedene und spannende Ereignisse zu leiten und mit Euch zu teilen.  

Einige Sachen, die ich gerne über mich erzählen würde sind, daß ich Korbball für die Heathmont Jets spiele, und daß ich kochen und lesen liebe, so wie Ereignisse zu organisieren. 

Ich würde auch gerne ein paar amüsante Fakten über Deutschland, die ich vor kurzem gelesen habe, mit Euch teilen! 

Wußtet Ihr, daß …. 

Ein Drittel der Fläche Deutschlands mit Wald bedeckt ist? 

Das erste gedruckte Buch in Deutschland gedruckt wurde?! 

Wie interessant! 

Ich möchte Euch auch daran erinnern, daß unser jährliches, deutsches Osterquiz sich mit Riesenschritten nähert, also macht Euch bereit, Euere Kenntnisse zu testen und im Rennen zu sein, tolle Preise zu gewinnen!

Hi! My name Matilda, but you can call me Tilly! As your German captain for this year, I am looking forward to leading and sharing many different exciting experiences with you. 

Some things I'd like you to know about me are, that I play netball for the Heathmont Jets, I love cooking, reading and organising events. I’d like to share a few fun German facts with you that I read about recently!  

Did you know… 

That one-third of Germany is still covered in forests and woodlands? 

That the first printed book was printed in Germany?!
