Music Extension

Congratulations to the Year 12 Music Extension students, who last week completed their first piece of summative assessment. The 2022 cohort is most definitely one of the most talented that I have had the pleasure of teaching over my time here at the College. The boys have performed and composed in a wide range of genres and I am looking forward to what the produce later in the year. The following video excerpts give clear evidence of the amazing results that they are producing.

Music Camp

A reminder that Music Camp is approaching for the boys in the Colleges Premier ensembles (Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Senior Strings, Wind Orchestra, Big Band 1, Chamber Choir and Performance Choir). All boys are reminded of the following:

  • Music Camp will depart Period 5 (1:00pm) on Friday 11 March – students are to meet promptly at the Draney Theatre at this time
  • Students attending camp are permitted to wear casual clothes on the day of departure (11 March)
  • A gentle reminder to ensure students have their instruments (and accessories), as well as all ensemble music with them ready for departure on the Friday.

Co-curricular Music at Marist College Ashgrove

Our continued thanks to all families and students, for what has been a great start to the year for all aspects of Music at Marist College Ashgrove. The term has commenced successfully, with instrumental lessons and ensemble rehearsals truly underway. A reminder to all new students of the College, that it is not too late to join one of the College’s Co-curricular Music Ensembles. If you have learnt an instrument before or are interested in joining one of the College’s vocal ensembles (choirs), please email the Music Department at music@marash.qld.edu.au to express your interest and the music staff will assist in allocating you to an appropriate ensemble. It is also not too late to commence instrumental lessons for 2022, the College caters for students of all levels (beginner to advanced) on a range of instruments. Please drop into Music Reception to pick up an enrolment form or email the Music Department for more information.
