Harmony Day

Monday, 21 March

Everybody belongs

Australia is a multicultural nation with a high volume of migration every year. More than 70 indigenous languages are spoken in this country and it is rich in tribal heritage. By celebrating Harmony Day, we respect the continuing message “Everybody Belongs” and its annual observance aims to encourage inclusiveness and respect of all Australians irrespective of their cultural background.

On Monday, 21 March we celebrate Harmony Day at St Norbert College. On that day students will be participating in a Harmony Day Liturgy, Multicultural Quiz and National Costume Parade (similar to the above picture taken in 2021).

A week prior to Harmony Day, students can also participate in a Harmony Day hand decorating competition. The Hands represent our unity amongst the nations that make up our College Community. We will then create a Harmony Day Tree and a Harmony Day hand garden outside Student Ministry.

On this day, all staff and students may wear their College PE Uniform (students must wear correct shoes) with their House shirt or traditional attire of their heritage. Staff are encouraged to wear their national attire or the colour orange which represents Harmony Day. Multicultural lunch will be postponed.
