Caritas, Lent, Retreats

Ash Wednesday and Caritas fundraising

Last week we commenced the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday paraliturgies conducted in each Homeroom. During this liturgy the students were reminded about the importance of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving during Lent.

It is during the season of Lent that we support Caritas Australia through their Project compassion appeal.   Students are encouraged to think of others during this time and give generously. There are Project Compassion boxes in each classroom and Homeroom teachers always remind students to contribute where and when they can.

Students can even earn some money at home to support this worthy cause.

  • Students could be given to opportunity to  complete some jobs around the house for a small payment, which can be given to Project Compassion
  • Pocket money  or a portion of it  can also be donated
  • Students can forego  a treat at the canteen and place the money they would have spent at the canteen in the Project Compassion box.
  • Students can be involved is by collecting cash for cans, and  giving the money raised through this to Project Compassion.

These little acts of sacrifice and kindness towards others really does help us to prepare our hearts and minds for Easter.

Year 7 Retreat - 15 March

Just a reminder to Year 7 parents that we are running on amended version of the Year 7 retreat this year. Students have been emailed all the information that they need. All Year 7 students are permitted to wear their sports uniform on this day.
