ABSENTEES

The safety of all our students is of great importance so we ask parents/carers to use the absentee email to report if a student is going to be absent or late. If notification is not provided, a sms will be sent informing of a student absence. Please call reception to confirm the absence and the reason.

MEDICATION

Families are reminded that the College is unable to give out any medication (eg Panadol, Nurofen, antihistamine etc) unless it is an emergency. It is recommended that if students need non-prescription medication for headaches and allergies, that they keep a small quantity in their lockers.

EARLY LEAVE NOTIFICATION

A number of students and parents/carers are not notifying the College when a student needs to leave during the day. A reminder that the following process is required for students needing to leave the College early:

  • Bring a signed note form a parent explaining the reason for the early leave (eg dental appointment).
  • The note must be handed to the Homeroom teacher or Student Services at the start of the day for recording into SEQTA.
  • An Early leave slip (pink) is to be collected from Student Services at the time of departure.

YEAR 12

WACE Checker developed to assist Year 12 students monitor their progress towards achieving the WACE

Students are kindly reminded that the School Curriculum and Standards Authority has developed a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Checker for Year 12 students. The WACE Checker is an online tool which Year 12s can use to check their progress towards achieving their WACE and is now available on the Authority website at: https://wacechecker.scsa.wa.edu.au/

The WACE Checker is provided as a guide only. The report it gives students must not be interpreted as a guarantee the student will achieve a WACE. Achievement of the WACE is dependent on the calculation of a student’s final results and completion of courses.

To use the WACE Checker, students will need to add information about their achievements in Year 11 and their expected achievements in Year 12. The checker will be of most assistance if the information provided for Year 12 is realistic. When students add their anticipated grades for Year 12, they need to add what they realistically expect to achieve this year.

The WACE Checker will be particularly useful for students considering changes to their education program which may affect their eligibility for the WACE.

More information is available under the ‘Tell me more’ button on the checker.

A reminder that any changes to Year 12 courses need to be made by Monday, 28 March.

The Year 12 SCSA Handbook Part 1 is out! All Year 12 students (and their parents/carers)  should read the handbook and refer to it when you have questions about enrolments, the WACE and the WASSA. Part I is for all students enrolled in Year 12. Part II will be published in July and will focus on the examinations, providing information specifically for students enrolled in Year 12 ATAR courses.

To access the Handbook-click the link or access the Handbook from SEQTA documents.
