Covid Update

The Calrossy community should be reassured that we continue to monitor the COVID infection rate directly affecting students and staff. We also receive regular health updates and respond to them as appropriate. Whilst infection rates are low for us, complacency is discouraged. We are learning to live with COVID but it is still present in our local area.

I am very thankful to the Calrossy Health Centre team led by Katya Thomas, for support, advice and guidance in navigating a somewhat uncertain time during the first months of Term 1. I am also grateful to the administrative staff of the school, Amy Dallas, Trish McPherson, Dimity Saunders and Kim Brissett who have assisted in the distribution of 10 000 RAT kits to the community.

The following guidelines should be maintained:

  • Students and adults with cold and flu symptoms must not attend school campuses and are required to take a test. Even if not diagnosed with COVID, they should wait until symptoms have abated before attending.
  • Please report positive cases (RAT or PCR) to school and Services NSW.
  • Positive cases are required to isolate for 7 days.
  • Household contacts are also required to isolate and test prior to return after 7 days.

Whilst masks are now not mandatory and twice weekly Rapid Antigen Tests are no longer required, the school reserves the right to reintroduce measures, should case numbers become an issue in the school. Our hygiene and cleaning measures at school continue as usual.

NSW Health are recommending COVID boosters, third vaccinations for eligible adults and children and are advocating for Flu injections this winter as well. Student excursions and expeditions are planned for later this term and contingencies for COVID are included as part of the Risk Assessment in preparation for these events.

We are thankful to the school community for your partnership in ensuring that school remains a safe an environment as possible in the current context.
