Aboriginal Student Program

Old Boy Visit

On Tuesday, 15th February during PCG, the Aboriginal students were visited by former Trinity College graduates Jake Ricks ('16) and Chilton Yarran ('16). Jake and Chilton both shared their experiences of TC, appreciating the opportunities provided to them by the college and in particular, the Aboriginal program.

Jake is currently working at Chisholm Catholic College and will graduate as a Physical Education teacher this year. Chilton is currently working for the City of Canning, coordinating a free Aboriginal mentoring program to upskill job readiness and cultural awareness.

MADALAH O Day

Every yea MADALAH give scholarships to a number of Aboriginal Students at Trinity College. In the past their Orientation Day has been spent off campus, with all other partner schools of MADALAH. Unfortunately, due to COVID, plans had to change this year, but it didn’t stop the Trinity College MADALAH students from having a good time.

On Tuesday the MADALAH staff attended Trinity College for their MADALAH Orientation Day. Students and staff took part in ice breaker activities, yarned and received their MADALAH welcome packs. The boys also joined in for a game of Buroinjin which is a traditional Aboriginal game; showing off their skills and competitiveness which was fantastic to see! The students had a wonderful morning at the College, and it was great to see each of the boys engaged and joining in.

MADALAH Limited is a not-for-profit organisation that offers Secondary and Tertiary education scholarships for Indigenous students from remote and regional communities to West Australia’s leading boarding schools and Australian universities.
