Primary Chinese

Dear families of Collingwood College, this term has been a huge term and there has been a lot of good and engaging learning happening in the primary school's Mandarin Chinese classes.

First of all, we welcome Robyn, who has taken the position to teach our P-2 students Chinese, under the support of our amazing classroom teachers.

The grade 3 and 4 students were taught on the topic of animals using the story of the Great Race (based on the Chinese zodiacs). Students then choose an animal to draw, to create a wall display of the Chinese zodiac. We also revised and learned the topic on numbers. After rounds of songs, written practices, games, archery and even some drumming sessions, students create their own snake and ladder board game after they have written 1 – 36 in Chinese characters.

The grade 5 and 6 students have been learning about colours and clothing items for the second half of Term 1. After designing and painting their own peg dolls, students were tasked to introduce the name of their ‘little person’ and describe what the person is wearing in writing.

Here are some of the beautiful work done by the students.

We wish all students and families a restful and meaningful break! We look forward to providing more interactive and engaging learning experiences in Term 2.
