Dear Sacred Heart School Community

A prayer for Ukraine

Loving God,

We pray for the people of Ukraine, for all those suffering or afraid,

that you will be close to them and protect them.

We pray for world leaders, for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world that in this moment of crisis,

we may reach out in solidarity to our brothers and sisters in need.

May we walk in your ways so that peace and justice become a reality for the people of Ukraine and for all the world.

Amen

Opening of the School Year Mass

An integral part of the beginning of the school year in any Catholic School, is the celebration of the Opening of the School Year Mass.  We are continuing our journey of strengthening our links with the parish, and giving our school families the opportunity to participate more in the life of Sacred Heart Parish. The Opening of the School Year Mass, will be our first celebration of the Eucharist with our wider parish family. The Mass will take place on Sunday 27th March at 10.30am.

As we will continue to try to do in all our school/parish masses, a significant number of students will have roles in the celebration.

This Mass is a great opportunity for our Year Prep students to feel part of our school and parish community, and we would dearly love them all to attend, as a special presentation is part of the celebration. Due to Covid restrictions we were not able to celebrate an Opening of the School Year Mass in 2021and welcome our 2021 Year Prep Class. We would love these students to attend now as Year One students so we can belatedly welcome them officially into our community.

Our Year Six school captains and leaders will be presented with their leadership badges during the ceremony.

We hope to see as many families in attendance at this special event as possible, as a celebration of the journey we will take together during this school year. Whilst we celebrate and practice our school’s Catholic identity, we are aware that we are a community of varied and rich faith practices. All members of our school family are warmly invited to attend, as we celebrate and give thanks for the very important things we have in common.

Enrolments for 2023

Enrolments for 2023 Year Prep officially opened on Monday and will close on Monday 20th June. Since late last year, I have already done seventeen tours for prospective families. If you know of any families who would like a tour please encourage them to contact the school by phone or email.

Parents and Friends Fundraiser

Order forms for hot cross buns will be sent home next week. Not only are the hot cross buns delicious but a portion of all orders received go to our school. This fundraiser is our Parents and Friends Committee's first event for the year and I ask that if you can support this fundraiser it will be most appreciated.

Our Parents and Friends Committee have their next meeting on Friday 25th March and all parents and guardians are welcome.

Raising of our National Flags

Yesterday for the first time since the middle of last year, we were able to proudly raise our three national flags. Again thank you to Peter and Anne Hall whose donation allowed us to re-cord our existing poles and have a third installed.

Please take care.

Yours sincerely
