School Council

School council met on Monday the 21st of February. Items discussed included:

  • The opportunity to purchase the block on the corner of Wren Street and Bridge Road. We have approached the Victorian School Building Authority and received and unfavourable response. We will continue to advocate for this opportunity.  Their response is as follows:

Although this proposal provides an opportunity for Toolamba Primary School to acquire land directly adjacent to the school site, our analysis has determined that this proposal does not meet the department’s site extension criteria for the following reasons:

• the current school area represents 53% of the area of land that would be provided to a new school of equivalent enrolment.

• an analysis of the current and future enrolment data has determined that there is sufficient capacity at Toolamba Primary School to accommodate the enrolment demand now, and into the foreseeable future

• further analysis of the potential growth predicted through the Toolamba Growth Plan has determined that it is unlikely that additional capacity for Toolamba Primary School will be required. Additionally, there is sufficient capacity within the school network to accommodate any growth

• a funding source for the land acquisition has not been identified and the department does not have funding available for opportunistic land purchases

  • The start to the school year including managing through COVID-19
  • Shade sail grant
  • Parent teacher interviews
  • Adopted the Annual Implementation Plan
  • Reviewed financial reports; and
  • Reviewed update of finance policies.

The next meeting will be the AGM, to be held March 28th.
