Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Student voice and leadership are such important components of the learning programs we have developed at Trinity and last week we certainly saw this in action as our Year 1/2 students stepped up to lead our whole school assembly.  As our Year 3-6 students were participating in swimming lessons or at Cross Country, it was left to 1/2UR to take the lead to let the show go on. What a fantastic job they did, even with Ms Rivas away, so thank you Ms Renee for taking over the lead. Each child read with such confidence, I'm sure there were many proud parents at the back of the room. This week's hosts will be 1/2MB who I am positive will do an amazing job as well. Thank you also to Ms Caitlin and the Preps for the wonderful presentation of the Creation Story.

As you are all aware, this week I am in Darwin on a Principal's Conference. Thank you to the staff at Trinity for ensuring all is fine in my absence. I will remain contactable via email this week, however Mrs Marinelli and Mr Ru will be available at school.

I have included below the objectives of the conference:

1. To gain an understanding of the history and impact of the Catholic Church's relationship with Indigenous communities in Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory.
2. To learn about the culture and traditions of the Indigenous community in Darwin and how the Catholic faith has been incorporated into their way of life.
3. To explore ways in which Catholic schools can work collaboratively with Indigenous communities to provide culturally responsive education that acknowledges and respects Indigenous knowledge and ways of learning.
4. To build relationships with Indigenous community members and leaders, and to understand how Catholic schools can support their efforts to maintain and celebrate their cultural heritage.

I look forward to seeing you all again on my return next Monday.

Prayer:  for the feast of the Ascension of Lord Jesus

You became man and came to live among us. For love of us, you suffered and died for us.
Because you are God, you conquered death and rose on the third day. You returned to your Father and our Father, But you promised to remain with us till the end of time, And to send us the Holy Spirit.
We rejoice and thank you, Lord Jesus. Come Holy Spirit, purify and transform us, Kindle within us the fire of your love.
Amen.

Berry Street Professional Learning Day

A reminder that next Friday 2nd June there will be no school for students as all staff at Trinity participate in a Berry Street Professional Learning day. The Berry Street Model is an important part of Trinty's approach to student wellbeing and will also go toward addressing the Annual Action Plan outlined below.

AAP (Annual Action Plan)

AAP Goal: To lead the evaluation and renewal of the school’s policies and practices for wellbeing and behaviour.

Some of the actions planned to achieve this goal include:

  • Attending professional learning for all staff and implementation of Berry St and Ripple Programs within the Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) matrix
  • Reviewing the school policies to ensure they reflect PBL
  • Developing a consistent approach and shared understandings in the implementation of the PBL processes (tracking sheet, yard book, reflection sheets etc)

Community Calendar - Keep up with our important dates!

Kind Regards

Nigel Rodrigues
