Learning Updates

- School of Innovation

We are almost halfway through Term 2 already! Next week we send our Year 7 cohort and staff to Camp Howqua for an incredible 3 days of fun-filled action and activities. We hope they have the best time!  Year 8s are continuing to thrive and showing excellent learner assets as they approach each subject and task. Year 9s are preparing wonderfully and learning so much as they undertake their Shark Tanks, Market Day and business ideas.

Thank you to our incredible staff in School of Innovation that continue to assist our students so fabulously, both individually, in groups and as a cohort.

iPads

Please check your student’s iPad and ensure that it is charged each day in preparation for classes and the school day as per our ICT agreement. If the iPad is damaged or missing any items, please make contact with your student’s Pastoral Group Leader and the College so we can follow up and assist.

School Of Innovation ~ Year 7

The Year 7's have had a busy few weeks. They have been learning about Dreamtime stories and practising drawing and illustrating these. Buddies has been a buzz with some real budding artists emerging from both the Foundation and Year 7 students.

In digital technologies the students have been practising coding skills to program a 'Big Track' to follow a path or to make a clock work. Photos of some finished examples.

Today we were lucky enough to be visited by St Mel's Grade 5 and 6 students where we participated with them in AFL skills and drills.

School of Innovation ~ Year 8

Year 8's have completed their unit on 'Units of Measurement' in Maths this week by sitting a written test. Students worked really hard on this and have consistently kept their rulebooks up to date with all of the information they have learned.

They have started looking at sustainable living and will be designing a tiny house that meets the needs of its occupants while still being great for the environment. Students have begun writing a proposal for this house to get approval for building.

Students are also creating their own informative texts in English about a topic of interest they have.

School of Innovation ~ Year 9

The Year 9s are keen to share their success in their budgeting and advertising for Market Day. They have showcased impressive creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial skills, resulting in highly successful projects.

Market Day provides practical understanding of business concepts, as students developed unique products/services, created budgets, and designed compelling advertising campaigns. Keep an eye out for an upcoming exclusive version of the newsletter with all of the advertising posters and videos for the Market.
