Learning Updates -

School of Wonder

Busy, fun and exciting term

A busy start to Term 2 with lots of amazing learning opportunities for all students. We continue to work together to provide opportunities for all of our students to develop their potential. Our learner assets continue to be a focus of our teaching and learning. This term we focus heavily on developing our learners into researchers by provoking students to think, question and discover.

Assembly

We will be having our first assembly next Monday (May 22nd) at 9am in the Turtle Shell. All families are welcome to join us. Our assembly will be led by 3/4MS.

Cross Country

Cross Country was a wonderful afternoon of fun, laughter, camaraderie and joy. The weather certainly helped us out with the sun shining beautifully. Students were wonderful, supporting each other and enjoying some time together outside. It was wonderful to see parents come and support and join this time with us.

Camp - Years 3 and 4

Camp is fast approaching. Year 3/4 Camp is in Week 6, Monday 29th - 31st, at Alexandra Adventure Resort. Students and staff are extremely excited about camp and the many opportunities it will offer. Please feel free to speak with your child's Learning Mentor about any concerns/questions you may have about camp.

Sacramental Program

The St Mel's Parish Sacramental Program continues this term with candidates preparing for their Confirmation on the 28th May 2023.

This is an exciting and special time for our candidates and we wish them well as they prepare for their Confirmation.

Foundation - Year 2

Over the last two weeks our students have continued to explore roles and responsibilities in the community. We are very fortunate to have had some visitors including a hairdresser and a doctor. These visits have allowed our students to develop questions to ask and to explore the roles of various people in our community.

Years 3 and 4 - Term 2

Students in ¾ continue to prepare for camp, developing a camp booklet. This has enabled students to ask questions, discuss challenges and concerns and problem solve. Students continue to work on resilience building, team work, empathy and gratitude.

In Literacy, students continue to build their understanding of collaboration and team work through literacy circles. Students also continued to explore poetry and to have a go at creating their own poems.

In Numeracy, students continue to explore the relationship between multiplication and division through hands-on learning experiences. Number talks continue to feature in Numeracy time. Number talks create an inclusive learning environment, encouraging learners to build vocabulary and explore / discover new mathematical strategies.
