Asking the right questions

I recently came across a short presentation from the Harvard Graduate School of Education which was providing advice to recent graduates.  The speaker, Dean James Ryan reminded the audience to ask five powerful questions:

Wait! What?  This question reminds us about inquiry over advocacy; remaining curious over simply trying to sell your idea.

I wonder…why or if… ? Here, we should open our imaginations to possibilities before deciding what is possible

Couldn’t we at least…?   This question allows us to make headway, even if it feels like we can't

How can I help? But make sure you ask with humility, what does the person you are asking really want or need.

What truly matters? To me...a surefire way to keep your focus on your core values and act in alignment with those.

I was so grateful to be reminded about the power of curiosity and inquiry in order to improve our world.  I wonder, if we asked more questions before we made a decision, what more would we achieve?
