Reconciliation Week - Year 4
In reading the year 4 students explored a variety of texts that deal with the historical injustices towards our indigenous peoples, the idea of a nation/government saying ‘sorry’ and the notion of reconciliation. Students engaged with the texts on a deep level by making personal and text-to-text connections, using the ‘book/head/heart’ strategy to explore their understandings of, and feelings towards the experiences of the Stolen Generation.

3D Pop Up Shapes from 3J
Students in 3J have been learning about 3D shapes and nets. What a fun way to learn what shapes look like when they are folded out flat and how they can be put together become 3D!
Gardening Club
Charlotte and Adelphe brought up the produce they have been growing in the school garden this term. That lettuce looks fabulous!
Descriptive Writing from 3H
Show don't tell.
Students were asked to describe a cat without saying it's a cat. What wonderful descriptive writing. Which cat would you like as your pet?
Learning with Buddy Grades
Last week grade 1G and 5SB met up for a buddy activity.
Year 5 students made a board game for Education Week and had the year 1students as their target audience. They were very excited to have a buddy session to share and test out their games with 1G. Addition to 100 was the focus and the games were thoroughly enjoyed!
The year 5s have also been working on writing narrative texts, with the Leigh Hobbs Mr Chicken books being used as their mentor texts. Over the first 4 weeks of Term 2 the year 5s drafted, edited, conferenced and published their own Mr Chicken stories and they decided to turn them into story books and also share them with 1G.
The cross age activity was a huge success!
