F-4 Community News

What a busy fortnight it has been in the F-4 community. Last week the F-4 students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime with the story The Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie. This was an opportunity for our students to join in the fun of reading a story at the same time as many other students across Australia. Thanks to Mrs Baker and Jo for organising such a wonderful event.

The Foundation students have been learning about farms and plants in their core knowledge and inquiry. On Tuesday, they had an exciting opportunity for an incursion with Farmer Darryl. The students dressed up as farmers and learnt about the different farm animals that Darryl brought to school with his mobile petting zoo. The students had a great time holding, petting and cuddling the various animals.

The Years 3/4 students spent this week participating in the learn to swim program at the Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre. They learnt water exploration, floating, safe entries, diving and stroke techniques dependent on their swimming abilities. It was great to see the students improve over the week. The F-2 students will participate in their swimming program next week.

The F-4 End of Term Assembly will take place on Wednesday 21st June 9.10am. We warmly invite parents, caregivers and the greater community to share in a celebration of our learning for Term 2.

Years 1 and 2

Students in Years 1 and 2 are enjoying the busyness of Term 2.

We have enjoyed learning about Reconciliation Week and Sorry Day, with our choir students participating and representing us beautifully at our Whole School Mass last Friday.

It was great to see students coming out of uniform and dressed in their 'natural' coloured clothes last Thursday to recognise International Laudato Si' Week.  The number of rubbish free lunchboxes on this day was also terrific! But remember, you don't just need to try and have a rubbish free lunch box on special days - having a rubbish free lunch box everyday will help our environment!

Everyone enjoyed participating in our Andrew Chin music workshop and concert. Students were able to sing, dance, smile and groove their way through the session and concert.

Well done everyone!

Of course we have also been doing lots of classroom learning as well as all the special events!

In mathematics we have been learning about money, recognising notes and coins and finding different ways of making the same amount.

In literacy we are continuing our hard work of segmenting and blending sounds in words and applying this to both our reading and writing.

In religious education we are beginning a new unit on Jesus in the Scripture, where we will be looking at the stories of Jesus and his life.

In The Resilience Project we are continuing to practice mindfulness.

We have enjoyed learning about people and places in Australia - with a focus on Kyabram at the moment in inquiry. There are lots of great things we love about living in and around Kyabram!

Reminders:

  • Next week we have our swimming program in Echuca so please complete permission notes on Operoo if you haven't already done so.
  • There will be a whole school assembly in the second last week of Term, followed by our F-4 assembly in the last week of Term.
  • Don't forget to label and name all jackets and jumpers as we have had a few missing in the last few weeks. Names on all clothing items in preparations for swimming will also be a great help, thank you!
