Principal's Report

Dear Families

Life is always busy at Galilee and this term has been no exception with many highlights such as: the popular Grandparents Day and Mass, Italian Day, Book Week, Father’s Day Breakfast and Footy Colours Day, Excursions, Incursions and this week Jump Rope for Heart.  Congratulations to the students for collectively raising over $23000 for the Heart Foundation. Thank you to all staff and parents who have contributed to events like these that make Galilee a great school.

We're excited for Term Four events including the following:

  • Year 1 Extended Day & Year 3 Camps
  • Thank you morning tea for parent helpers
  • P-6 Swimming Lessons & Swimming Carnival
  • Galilee Day 25 year anniversary celebrations
  • Sacrament of Confirmation
  • Art Show
  • DOGS Camp
  • Carols
  • Year 6 end of year events

A reminder that in Term Four our Sun Smart Policy is in place. All students are required to wear a Galilee School Hat. If the weather is still cool at the beginning of Term Four, students may wear their winter uniform until Monday 28th October when all students are expected to be in full summer uniform.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned holiday break. Hopefully we get some spring sunshine over the two weeks.

A reminder that Term 4 begins Monday October 7.

Achievements And Stories Of The Students

Mila C in 3M has just recently started singing at Dance World. She was already doing ballet there so it was convenient. She does singing with her younger sister. They were working on this song, Anything You Can Do. She was having a tough time learning one of the notes but, after 5 days of practising and practising and persisting, she was able to reach the note. She really enjoys singing at Dance World and wants to be a singer when she is older. She finds that singing there really helps her and make her better.

Ella in Prep E was chosen because of her outstanding pieces in writing. She likes writing stories because she loves getting ideas and just writing all the stories that pop into her head. She has already written stories on the Ugly Duckling and The Magic Fish. Her favourite story was the ugly duckling. She liked it because it was about a duck that was ugly and didn't fit in but then later in the story it fit in with all the other ducks. One day she hopes to be an author for books. Well done Ella!

Deepest Condolences

Sadly one of our past parents, Kate Nolan, passed away on Saturday morning surrounded by her loving husband Bernie, and children Alisdair, Matthew and Jacqui.

Kate was a very strong and supportive member of our community for the nine years that her children attended Galilee. She had a wonderful natural ability to give everyone her time and her friendship. Everyone of us who knew Kate will remember her smile, her laughter and her happy presence. Please keep her family in your prayers.

Open Morning

There will be no Open Morning tomorrow morning.

CEMSIS

The CEMSIS Parent Survey closes tomorrow for those families who still need to complete it.

Staffing

Cassandra Smith will be on leave until Monday 28 October. Miss Romios will be replacing her.

Tomorrow we farewell Isabella Kottek (LSO) who has accepted a teaching position at De La Salle.  We thank Isabella for all her support at Galilee over the past three terms.

Next term we welcome Dorothy Hall who will be replacing Isabella.

We wish Kateryna from TheirCare all the best as she awaits the birth of her first child.  Kateryna will begin maternity leave after tomorrow.

Year 2 Sleepover

Our Year 2 students will be sleeping at school tonight as part of their camp program.  They are very excited to spend the night and will be participating in various activities this evening and tomorrow morning.  Thank you to the staff who will be supervising and staying overnight: Holly Burke, Annabel Coome, Carlo Martello, Sharon Cameron, Sammy Bamford and Laura Mason.

Jump Rope for Heart

Tomorrow is the jump off for Jump Rope for Heart and fundraising will close for the school. All funds will be counted by the closing of the fundraising.

Students will jump from 11:40am and will conclude by 1pm.  A big thank you to Holly Burke for coordinating and encouraging all students to participate.

Bank St & Park St Parking

A reminder that the driveway in front of the school entrance on Bank St is to be kept clear as it is an emergency access.  Please adhere to the signage on Bank St, especially the 5 minute parking area.

Also, double parking to drop children off at both school entrances is dangerous for the children getting out of the car. Please consider an alternative and safer way to drop your child/ren off in the morning.

If any family is interested in purchasing a whole school photo to commemorate 25 years of Galilee, there are order forms in the Office or you can order online at www.theschoolphotographer.com.au using the Online Order Code: 19S3002PC38G.

A Year 6 'fun' photo is also available for purchase using the same procedures as above.

Orders are due by 18 October.

Open Morning

There will NO Open Morning tomorrow.

End of Term

Term 3 ends at 1:30pm tomorrow. Any students not picked up by 1:40pm will be sent to TheirCare.

Lord, You walk beside me, You are always there.

Come in my waking, Go with me everywhere.

Lord, Your hand will lead me, Your light will show the way.

Come be in my thinking, Be my guide today.
