Dear Families,

We received wonderful news today from the Kumaran family and am including here a note Kamini has asked for us to share with our school families.  As you will remember Kaavya’s (Year 4) dad received the devastating diagnosis earlier this year of cancer.  Many of our school families came forward to support the family in many ways including providing meals.  Please read on to hear their wonderful news:

'We have been fortunate that Vijay has had positive results after his treatment and is now cleared.  He is slowing recovering however feeling stronger each day.

During this difficult time for my family, we had great love and support from the Galilee family and I can't thank you all enough for this.

I would like to thank the mums/dads that prepared meals for my family.  A special thank you to Jess for being on top of this arrangement and taking the time and effort to keep in touch with me.  May the Lord shower his blessing to all of you as I could not have done this without you.

Kind regards "Kumaran Family”’

We continue to keep the Kumaran family in our prayers.

Simon Millar

Art Show

Due to the changing face of Calendars and the wider use of digital organisers, we have made the decision to concentrate our Art Show fundraising on the sale of Cards – a piece of your child’s art work has been chosen by Mrs. Orr. This sample of your child’s work for the cards, is available for viewing at the office and will also be available to view at the Art Show. A set of 6 cards is $10.

We look forward to seeing your at the Art Show - Thursday November 2nd 5pm – 7pm.

We will be taking orders as of Monday 30th October.

Summer Uniform and Hats

Children may wear either summer or winter uniform until Cup Weekend, after which they are expected to wear their summer uniform. Hats are compulsory in Term Four.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mark L who came 1st in 80m Hurdle race at the Regional Athletics Championship on Tuesday. Mark now qualifies to compete in the state competition on Monday. Good luck!

Visiting During School Hours

Any parent/carer coming to the school between 8.50am and 3.25pm, must firstly visit the office to sign in. This includes dropping off lunches, hats, homework, show and share or collecting your child etc.

When collecting your child early, preferably 1.40pm or 2.30pm, the office will call children down while you sign them out. Please do not take them from the classroom without signing them out first. The times set above are to minimise distractions to the classroom learning.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Galilee Alumni

Congratulations to Jayde Razlog (Class of 2012) who has been appointed School Vice Captain at Academy of Mary Immaculate.

2018 Classes

If parents have concerns, for social reasons, over classroom placements of their child with another peer, they are asked to send the request to Mr Millar in writing by no later than Friday November 10th (including the reason). These requests will be kept confidential but there is no guarantee that all can be accommodated. Classroom placements are based upon student friendships and the needs of each individual. Teachers are yet to be given placements for 2018 and requests for teachers by parents will not be considered.

Swimming

Prep - Year 2 swimming lessons begin on Monday 30th October. They will need their swimming bags/ bathers every day next week.

Prep and new students will receive the Galilee swim cap from school, if lost, a new one will need to be purchased from the office.

Steps to Care for a Swim Cap:

  1. After you finish your swim, rinse the cap with cool, clean water (not from the pool).
  2. Dry with a soft towel.
  3. Hang the cap and allow it to air dry completely.
  4. Before storing or packing the cap away, sprinkle baby powder inside.

Lost....

Currently in lost property, there are over 40 jackets/jumpers/rugby tops, some named others are not! Make sure you come and browse through the overflowing cupboard to collect any lost items.

PLEASE NAME ALL CLOTHING. Unnamed uniform will be donated to the second hand shop at the end of the year.

Festival of the Bands

For the first time Galilee will be participating in Festival of the Bands on Friday, December 1st. All students are welcome to join and need to see Anita on a Wednesday lunchtime to practice for the performance.
