Nitro Athletics Challenge

2018 Nitro Schools Athletics Challenge

On Wednesday 31 October, a team of 36 athletes competed in the inaugural Nitro Schools Athletics Challenge – an initiative by Athletics Australia in conjunction with Athletics WA. The event was a three-hour athletics carnival that consisted of traditional events with a twist that allowed athletes to score 'bonus points' that went towards their team’s tally. Although only a handful of schools entered, it was a very interesting event and gave our athletes an opportunity to compete against non-ACC schools and provided them with another event to showcase their athletic talents.

It was fantastic to see all of our teams walk away with medals:

Senior Boys (Gold medal):

Lubin Benedict, Lennon Butler, Cooper Jenkins, Samuel Rowlands, Ben Rowlands, Noel Mancuveni, Nyika John, MJ Jansen van Rensburg and Izeldin Bol.

Intermediate Boys (Silver medal):

Jordan-Blaze Lightbourn, Francesco Tilli, Michael Tilli, Connor Chehab, Kyran Taylor, Jack Sorrell, Jaxon Mikaere, Alex DeSilva, Colin Sunny and Alessandro De Comarmond.

Intermediate Girls (Bronze medal):

Zeta Stevens, Shenae Hartree, Kayla Hartree, Paige Craven Bower, Stephanie Earsman, Suzanne Vagg Johnson, Neve Adnams and Teagan Lidster.

Junior Boys (Gold medal):

Cooper Notley, Lance Cornwall, Caleb Yende-Emoko, Ace Tinlin, Vlad Lavi and Bob Watson.

Thank you to all the parents for their support and coming to watch. Special thank you to Lisa Hopkins and Acushla Fearn for coaching the team in the lead-up to the event and for their help on the night along with Michelle DeSilva and Giuseppe Tilli.
