Principal's Welcome

Channel 10 News

Last Monday some of our students (Lead Characters for the Lion King Jr Musical and School Captains) together with Miss Carnovale, sang and spoke to Mike Larkin on the Channel Ten News. We have received widespread praise from many leaders in Catholic Education Melbourne, for the way our students conducted themselves. Congratulations to Liam and Agnes for the composure they showed when talking to Mike. Our Musical will be held on September 20, 2018.

ANZAC Day Ceremony

Parents/guardians, friends and family members are invited to attend our ANZAC Day Ceremony which will be held next Monday (23 April), in the Hall from 2:45pm.

On Monday, we ask that students bring a gold coin donation to receive a remembrance poppy which will be distributed in their classrooms on Monday morning.

If you would like to purchase an additional poppy, they will be for sale before school and prior to the start of the ceremony on Monday afternoon.

The Social Justice Leaders from each class will have an active role in the ceremony.

Thank you to all the families that supported the Easter Raffle by making donations, buying tickets and wrapping the hampers.  It is a much loved event by all the children at Galilee and much excitement surrounded the draw.  A huge thank you to Chelsea M and Alison B who spent countless hours organising the raffle for everyone. Money was raised for the school with a total to be announced in next week's newsletter.

One Mother to Another

Start thinking about gathering items to fill up a toiletry bag for a mother in need this Mother’s Day.  Donations will be collected at school and taken to St Kilda Mums.  See the poster below for further information.  This is a beautiful way to remember how lucky we are and to show another mum that someone cares.  Get together a group of friends at school to make up a toiletry bag filled with items that we simply take for granted.  Remember all items must be new and unopened.

Uniform

Students can wear the Summer or Winter Uniform for the first two weeks of Term Two. From Monday April 30 (Week 3) students need to be in the full Winter Uniform unless wearing the Sport Uniform (PE lesson and all Fridays). Our Uniform Policy can be accessed on the school website.

Canberra

Dear Parents & Guardian,

As part of our current school camp program, the Year 6 students travelled to Canberra, to visit various landmarks within our national capital and to develop their knowledge and understanding of Australia’s history, heritage and culture. This trip aligned with the Year 6 Victorian Curriculum, Civics and Citizenship. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s culture, heritage, political history and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able

to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist

families in meeting the cost of the camp the Australian Government contribute

funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards those costs. This rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the camp.

On behalf of Galilee Regional Catholic Primary School, I would like to thank PACER for their ongoing support of this school program.

Regards,
