Term 1 SRC Activities

The SRC has been busy plotting great activities in the calendar for term one... all driven by students. This provided the opportunity for students to get involved, work as an amazing team comprised of students from many year levels and extend themselves as leaders.

Funky Hair Day led by Ben Hobbs-Gordon was an absolute success. Year 12 students Katelyn Stanhope, Nathan Markopoulos, Josh Susskind, and Ben Hobbs-Gordon had their heads shaved at lunch time by professional hairdresser, Tony from Liana James  in Carnegie. Runcha Jiva-Anan chose to donate her hair to Cancer patients. The five students planned this in the summer holidays and saw it to fruition, with loud cheers from their peers at Glen Eira College, raising more than $2000 online. At school, we also had a sausage sizzle, team collection, hair spray stands and a DJ. A further $810 was raised for the Leukaemia Foundation. Well done everyone!! Thank you to all students, teachers and parents who helped out in making Funky Hair Day a memorable one! #AwesomeEffort

The next event planned is the special Cultural Diversity Week. Watch this space.

The next few lines are a special message for year 7 students... no doubt you know what the SRC is, but what you may not know is that EVERYONE is WELCOME!! So, join us to better our school, help organise special days at our school and help us help the community. See you on Tuesday at lunch time in Room 107. #MakeAdifference

Funky Hair Day

Funky Hair Day was on Wednesday 8th March  and once again was a brilliant success! It was a great atmosphere, with a barbeque, coloured hairspray and music. Year 12 students Katie, Nathan M, Josh S and myself, shaved our heads for the World’s Greatest Shave and Runcha also cut her hair and donated it to form a wig! Heaps of money was raised and it will be used by the Leukaemia Foundation to fund future research and support patients going through hard times. Thank you for the all the support and donations!
