Sport Round Up

It has been a big start to sport at GEC this term.  With our own swimming sports in the second week of term and then straight on to senior and intermediate inter-school summer sports. Year 8 inter-school sport was last week and Year 7s will be competing this week.

Students of Glen Eira College have experienced some huge success already with the senior lawn bowls team of Campbell Hymans, Boris Pribil and Ashley Szmerling progressing through the Beachside Division and then continuing their masterful bowling by beating Westernport in extended ends to win the Southern Metropolitan Region. Fantastic work men! Good luck at STATE!!

The intermediate girls’ softball team trounced through the Beachside Division with a notable home run by Zoe Markopoulos against Elwood.  This is the 4th year in a row that the softball team has blitzed the division and will play in the regionals in May. Good luck ladies!

The Year 8 girls’ softball team had their second year in a row without losing a single game and have also progressed through to regionals. Keep it up girls!

Beachside swimming was two weeks ago with all students participating at every opportunity.  With lots of second and third place getters, Paul-Antoine Galliot won the 50m butterfly and progressed through to the next level. Fun was had by everyone and all students should be commended for their spirit and their willingness to give everything a go.  Well done to all involved.

Still to come this term is the Cross Country to be run on 31st March and we anticipate a huge day of spirit and eagerness to score points for their houses.

A reminder to all students to keep checking the GEC Hub website for photos of all our winners and for updates on future events.
