UMAT information

UMAT registrations are open for all applicants that are required to sit the UMAT for their university course preference/s. Registrations must be made by 5pm on Friday June 2nd. The test date is on Wednesday 26 July 2017. UMAT practice test No.1 is included with the UMAT 2017 registration. Applicants will also have access to some free preparation videos once they complete their registration to sit UMAT 2017. Please see Ms McCaskie if you require further information.

 

Academy of Design: Visual Communication Design Seminar

20th May, 10:30am – 12:30pm

This event is for students studying Units 3 & 4 Visual Communication Design. Students will hear from an experienced teacher about how to prepare their folios. Registrations should be made online.

Australian Defence Force Gap Year

Applications for a 2018 gap year open in March 2017.

The ADF Gap Year program provides an opportunity for young Australians who have finished Year 12 or equivalent, aged between 17 and 24, to experience military training & lifestyle whilst gaining new skills over a paid gap year.

LEAP: Advanced Engineering Workshop

This workshop is for students studying VCE Maths Methods or pre-Methods who are interested in engineering. It is run in conjunction with the Engineering Link Group.

LEAP: Next Step – Health Workshop

4th April, 9:30am – 1pm @ The University of Melbourne

This workshop is open to Year 11 and 12 students who are interested in a career in the health professions. Students will hear from speakers talking about future career options in the health industries, as well as talking about what life at university and the transition from school is like.

This workshop is open to Year 11 and 12 students who are interested in a career in science. Students will tour laboratories, find out what studying science at university is really like, and hear about the transition from school to university from current students.

Year 10

Work Experience

It has been nice to meet many of the Year 10s and be able to assist them with Work experience Placements. If you are finding it hard to secure a placement, please come and see me. My appointment times are on the board outside the Senior School office where I am located. Forms with the placement are due in by the end of this term.

GOITGIRLS Work experience Program

The GOIT Girls program is now in its 4th year and was created to inspire young women to pursue careers in STEM. Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine. The program aims include developing technical and employability skills and provide insight into industry.

Year 10 student Anika Dixit applied and secured herself a placement in the program run from 6th - 10th March. Her placement included a visit to the Telstra’s Innovation Lab and a teleconference with overseas executives on International Women’s Day.
