Around The Primary

28 April 2017

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Term Two! I hope that you all enjoyed a relaxing holiday with family and friends, and could celebrate Easter with its timeless message of hope and new life. It has been lovely walking around the Primary school this week, chatting to children, parents and staff and seeing the enthusiasm of everyone at the start of a new term. The children have certainly returned with lots of wonderful stories to share about their holidays.

We commenced our term with an Anzac Assembly for the Year 3-12. Special thanks to our guest speaker, POCD Nick for sharing his time with us and providing an insight into his experiences in the armed forces. The Junior students also enjoyed reading stories about the Anzacs, making poppies and writing prayers.

An important reminder, all Mothers are warmly invited to our Primary Mass dedicated to all our magnificent Mums on Friday 12 May at 9:00am. This will be followed by morning tea in the Exhibition Centre. Some mothers may prefer an early start to the day, you are welcome to come along to our 8:00am Community Mass with your children.

The Term Two Planner is attached for your convenience. Please check this document regularly to stay up to date with what is happening over the course of the term. We will keep you informed of any further updates.

Ms O’Connor and 4G are kindly preparing our first Assembly this term. We look forward to seeing many parents at 9:00am in the hall next Friday 5 May.

Kind regards

Antoinette De Pinto

Head of Primary

Duty of Care

At John XXIII we like to involve parents as much as we can in the life of our school. When working as a parent helper in the classroom or as a volunteer in our school, all parents and visitors are required to ‘sign in’ at the front office and wear a visitor’s sticker for their duration of their time around the College.

This is also a timely reminder that children are not to leave the school grounds during school without being accompanied by a parent/guardian. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to sign the children out from the front office before collecting the student from the classroom. Teachers cannot release a student to an adult without a ‘leaver’s slip’ from the office.

Finally, all PP-6 classroom doors are open from 8:35am each day. Students arriving after 8:50am need to report to the front office on arrival to sign the ‘late book’.
