Celebrating Our History 

The very first students attending a Loreto school in Adelaide Terrace, Perth commenced on 15 February 1897. Only two students attended on that first day with numbers swelling to 27 by the end of the first year. Mother Gonzaga Barry counselled patience and one of her favourite sayings was ‘your pupils will be your best advertisement’.

Four years after opening Loreto Adelaide Terrace, Mother Gonzaga bought Osborne Hotel in Claremont and the Loreto story in WA was well underway. This year we are celebrating 40 years as John XXIII College and we are justifiably proud of the students, staff and families that comprise our College.

Our Loreto and Jesuit heritage and the inspiration of Pope John XXIII are integral to our College. However, the death and resurrection of Jesus celebrated at Easter is what defines our Catholicity and is the essence of any Catholic school.

This week we have also celebrated ANZAC day with a ceremony at the school. It was a respectful acknowledgement of those that have served their country with distinction during difficult times. Our guest speaker spoke eloquently on the ANZAC message and of his own experiences as a current serviceman.

We welcomed nine new students to our College community this week and would also like to introduce the following new members of staff:
