We hope you are all staying active and healthy whilst learning from home. The PE team have enjoyed seeing you on-line during your specialist days each week and were especially thrilled in seeing the students in their footy colours on Thursday.

Overview

Students across the school have focused on the following during their virtual PE sessions over the past fortnight:

Prep: Under/overarm throwing and catching technique and associated games/activities

Years 1-2: Two-handed side arm strike and forearm striking technique

Years 3-6: Passing skills and the rules/tactics of basketball

In addition to the focus areas outlined above, students have also been completing a range of group exercise sessions and discussions relating to wellbeing.

Home Fitness Fun

This fortnight’s recommendation is for students to play a modified ‘Fitness Version’ of Tic-Tac-Toe (or Noughts and Crosses) with a parent/guardian and/or sibling at home.

Equipment: The game board (below), counters or a pencil (to indicate the selections on the board) and a safe place to complete the exercises:

How to play: Take turns selecting one of the spaces on the grid. Once you have completed the exercise/activity, mark it with a counter (or an X or O). The player who succeeds in placing three of their counters/marks in a horizontal or diagonal row, or four vertically, is the winner.

We hope you all enjoy the school holidays. Stay safe and try to keep as active as possible.
