Book Week Festivities

This week SFX celebrated 2021 Book Week - Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.

Activity choice boards for Literacy activities have kept us very busy and special story time live reading sessions have been a favourite thanks to Miss Melissa, Miss Naomi,

Miss Marion, Miss Erin and even Mr Steve!

Our Wednesday morning Google Meet was loads of fun, with many students dressing up and / or bringing along a favourite book. Mr Steve popped in too and was super impressed with the amazing collection of characters!

Maths

Over the past fortnight, we have been focussing on multiplication and division -

which happen to be the opposite of each other!

We made equal groups and modelled our groups using concrete materials

(which we pretended were all sorts of things such as

animals, bananas, windows, donuts and even aliens!).

We learnt how to organise them into arrays (neat and tidy rows & columns) which helped us use repeated addition and skip counting to work out how many there were in total. Then we divided our objects into equal groups by sharing them out fairly.

Wellbeing Activities

For our fabulous Feel Good Fridays, we have had some awesome wellbeing activities. Thanks for sending through pictures of some of wonderful work going on!

We had a day full of dots - based on the book ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds, followed by a special day of celebrating all the Marvellous Men in our worlds, prior to Father's Day last week. It was amazing to see and hear all the tributes to all the wonderful Dads and other special adults that we are so lucky to have in our lives.
