From our Leaders of Wellbeing

Mrs Kath McMillan

Wellbeing has many forms and as we enter into COVID lockdown the emphasis on wellbeing is foremost in all our minds.

It is important for learning to continue for our students but first and foremost is looking after ourselves and each other.

Staying connected with each other is one way to help with our wellbeing and is a reoccurring message being discussed by specialists across the world. To help us all stay connected, St Mary’s has set up zoom meetings for students to connect with their teachers and their friends each day. Another initiative that the school is using to help us stay connected is Mrs Reinke’s daily challenges.

Psychologist Sabina Read said that while we spend time at home in self-isolation, it’s vital that we schedule in regular catchups online or on the phone. So, don’t forget to also make regular contact with family and friends, especially those who live alone.

Think of this time not as social distancing but as physical distancing. We may be physically apart, but we need to stay socially and emotionally connected.
