Classroom News - Year 6

Mr Garraud & Mrs Walters

Thank you to Parents and Caregivers!

Firstly, we would like to give a big shout out to all the adults and family members in each and every home helping with online learning while in our current lockdown. Your efforts to continue to work, maintain a household, do the daily tasks AND monitor/ teach/ instruct/ explain/ demonstrate/ assist your child/ren have not gone unnoticed. All our students are doing well because of your support and encouragement - so thanks!

Fun Friday

Last Friday we enjoyed a Fun Friday Zoom with the theme of "Traditional Japanese Komono". Students were asked to rummaged around their house, improvise, and devise a Komono out of found items. And true to Year 6 style, they did not disappoint!

Well done to those students that participated and assisted to make the end of Week 5 a positive one!

English Excellence

Even though we are Online Learning, your children are still continuing to produce some outstanding work in Writing and Reading! Students have completed some amazing Big Writes on the theme of Asian cooking, going so far as to publish their writing worthy of a Cookbook entry.

As you know you too benefited from this task (I hope!!) from eating their wonderful creations: sushi, butter chicken, secret family recipes, Japanese cheesecake, curries, cookies and so many more!

Geography Greatness

Over the last 5 weeks students have been studying Asia and its culture, traditions and geographical features. Transferring to online students used the power of digital technologies to continue to explore this topic. Check out a few of the Atlas work samples
