Wellbeing

National Child Protection Week raises awareness about the community’s collective responsibility for the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people.  For Catholic schools, this provides an opportunity to emphasise their strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of young people in their care, and the important role they play in creating nurturing environments at school, online, at home and in the community.

This year’s National Child Protection Week will take place from Sunday 5 September to Saturday 11.

R U OK day

On Thursday 9th September it was are you ok day?

THIS YEAR THE MESSAGE IS: Are they really OK?  Ask them today.

Do you know how the people in your world are really going? Life's ups and downs happen to all of us. So chances are someone you know might be struggling. Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small. So, don’t wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis.

Make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going.  Are they really OK? Ask them today. Your conversation could change a life.

These are the steps to check in with someone.

R U OK? has developed FREE resources to help you encourage everyone in your school, workplace and community to think about who in their world might need to be asked how they’re really going and how to make a moment meaningful by asking “are you OK? For more information, visit www.ruok.org.au

The Resilience Project

What’s new at the Resilience Project??

So many of us are experiencing challenges right now. Over the last few weeks, we've been sharing some clips of Martin and Hugh where they've opened up about the things they are (and aren't) doing to help their mental health.

Not only are the boys wildly different in personality, but so too is their approach to working on their wellbeing.

These tips may or may not work for you, however if you're keen to try something new, we hope they provide some inspiration.

Free & healthy activities kids can do from home

With self-isolation and social distancing in full effect, it can be hard to think of fun tasks to keep kids happy, healthy and most of all, inside over the coming days, weeks and months.
To help, Parents Voice have compiled a list of healthy activities that can be done from the comfort of home. These are sure to dispel kids' boredom and keep them moving and learning for the foreseeable future. For a list of ideas and resource on health eating, physical activity and wellness and mindfulness click here.

Action for Happiness September calendar

This month’s theme is Self-care September. Self-care isn't selfish, it's essential. No-one's perfect. But so often we compare our insides to other people's outsides. This month we're encouraging everyone to be kinder to themselves (as well as others), especially when things go wrong. Self-care increases our resilience and helps us get more out of life. It also helps us accept others as they are too.
