NEW SOCIAL MEDIA RESTRICTIONS
In 2018 we introduced a new mobile phone policy to encourage greater interaction between our students before school, recess and at lunchtime. Students are not permitted on their phones during these times. Students are permitted to check their phones immediately before periods 1, 3 and 5. We were delighted with the positive way students responded and we are keen to ensure the same applies for 2019.
We are now in the process of restricting social media access to students during school hours. Students will not have access to their social media accounts including Netflix using the school network during the school day. Our priority is for our students to be fully engaged in their class work and communicating with their peers during their breaks. It is important our students find a balance between their social media usage, social interaction and academic studies. There will also be limited access to Boarders during their prep time. Quite a bit of work needs to happen behind the scenes before this is all in place. We hope to have the new restrictions in place in the day school and boarding house by the middle of Term One.
SUMMER SHIRT
My apologies as the incorrect information went into last week’s newsletter. All boys may remain in the older summer shirt until the end of the school year. All boys will need to have purchased the new shirt for Term One, 2020.
TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF
Our Year 12s spent some time with Mrs Couchman on Friday preparing a self- care plan. The Year 12s were asked to list activities they could do during those times when life starts to become a little stressful. We could all do with a self-care plan to ensure we are balancing the demands of school and work with some activities that allow us to switch off and connect with others. Below is a list that some of our Year 12s included on their plans. Perhaps we could all spend 10 min preparing one of these!
Take a bath
Listen to Music
Light a candle
Call a Friend
Create your own coffee break
Put on some music and dance
Exercise with a friend
Engage in a small act of kindness
Meditate
Learn something new
Drive somewhere new
Write in a journal
Buy some flowers
